Database Status

SJC Expenses

When we first started mobilising funds for the SJC we had promised that we will have a transparent system and publish the details of the expenses on our website. It has taken a while to catch up on the accounting. Here is the summary of the expenses.

Disclosures

  1. A few gifts were left after the event:
    1. Four rechargeable torches (value Rs. 90 each). Saravanan, Krishnamurthy, Vilva and Sudarsan were given 1 each
    2. Two sets of pens (value Rs. 225 each). Rajeshwar & Boby Thomas were given one set each
  2. The amounts spent on gifts includes a sum of Rs. 3,500 incurred in buying a cellphone as a gift for Mr. Nehru who is Rajeshwar’s general assistant. Nehru has been a constant member of the team, serving us at all the meetings in Rajeshwar’s office and did countless chores for the SJC, most of the time after normal work hours. So, the SJC committee decided to give him a gift commensurate to his deeds.
  3. The domain hosting has been provided by Rajeshwar’s company. We have been provided unlimited space and bandwidth for a nominal price of Rs. 2,000 per year.

ACCET87 Fund – Your money is working hard

You may be aware that we first opened a personal bank account jointly operated by Rajeshwar, Saravanan & Boby in ICICI Bank to collect the budgeted amount of Rs. 10 lakhs required for the SJC event.

Soon after we collected close to Rs. 10 lakhs we shifted the contributions to the ACCET Foundation’s bank account in Indian Bank. We negotiated hard with Indian Bank to open a Savings Bank account instead of a Current Account so that the funds in the account will earn interest.

As the funds started coming in we deposited the funds in FDs with Indian Bank. Till now, we have made FDs totalling Rs. 20 lakhs with interest rate ranging from 9.0 to 9.5% pa.

Here is the copy of the first deposit of Rs. 10. lakhs

The balance of around 4 lakhs in the account (as of July 18) is earning an interest of around 4% pa. We will be moving that to a short term deposit in a day or two.

Update – With some statistics

We have now located 164 of the 193 batchmates. Only 29 still to be traced. All 164 are on the group mailing list. To send the group an email just send an email to 8387@m.accet87.net Please restrict emails to topics of common interest. Attachments are not allowed.

Of the the 164, 92 have registered here on this website. I request the rest of you to register now.  Please wait for the registration to be  approved; this process is required as we do not want to allow everyone in the world to access our contact information and pictures.. We will try and approve it within 24 hours. We get a lot of spammy requests and the approval process takes some time.

We have a family get together in Chennai on the 31st of March, 12.30 pm to 4.00 pm. 19 members have already confirmed their attendance and we expect to have more than 25 members (along with families we will have around 60) for the event. Thanks to Ennarasu for organizing this event; this is going to be our first big get together with families and I am excited. Add your confirmation here.

The preparation for the Silver Jubilee Celebrations is gathering momentum. For the August 11 event, we have 37 confirmations and 1 maybe on our website. With family the confirmations are for 124 persons. What are your waiting for? Go add yours NOW.

The commitments for the funds for the SJC is also coming in pretty well with the commitments that we have orally received amounting to over Rs. 25 lakhs so far. We have already registered “ACCET87 FOUNDATION” as a trust. We are waiting for the allotment of Income Tax PAN to open a bank account in the name of Trust. Till such time you can send the funds to the account provided in the website. The account is jointly held by Saravanan, Boby Thomas and Rajeshwar.

We have identified a couple of service providers for imparting the soft skills & communication training program that we plan to sponsor for the students. On Tuesday, 27th of March, one of the providers is dong a pilot project in our college. They will do a 3 hour session for a batch of 80 students (6th semester). This will help us evaluate them as well as get student feedback. The formal program that we sponsor will be for the students who will get into the 5th semester in June 2012. The college (Prinicipal & HODs) have in principle agreed to incorporate the training program into the academic schedule. Thanks to Sivananda Raja for taking the lead in this.

Finally, we have only 139 days to go for the grand reunion. Time to act.

Database Update Status – Feb 25

We have traced 9 batchmates since the last post. We now have 161 contacts and 32 untraced. We some help from each of you, we are confident that we can trace most of our batchmates. We are setting a goal of updating the database with 180 contacts by 31 March 2012. Please do your bit to reach this goal.

Database Update Status – 11th Feb 2012

Hello everyone, A lot has been happening over the past weeks and we will update you of the activities in a few posts over the next few days. An update on the database of the batch is overdue and here we go.

We now have contacts of 152 batchmates and only 41 are yet to be traced. We have traced contacts for all 20 from ECE but we have not heard from Sankaranarayan yet. He has not responded to emails. If any of you have the postal addresses (whatever you have), we can try sending them a letter. We did manage to establish contact with some of our batchmates by sending letters to the postal address available in the college. However, we could not get the postal address from the college for Electrical & Mechanical as the records are not available in the college. So, please see what you can dig out.

We are setting up an option to allow all registered users to create albums and add pictures. We hope to have this ready by next week. Please post your ideas and comments here.
